1.
Double Foul Plays from January 8 Teleconference
follow-up.
Questions have been raised as to why the shot clock
is not re-set when A1 shoots the ball and a foul is called while the shot is in
the air and the basket is missed.
The whistle stops the clocks, if the shot is good,
the basket counts per rule 6-6.1.a & c. The double foul will be treated as
neither team having possession of the ball because the ball was shot. We will go
to the arrow and if Team A has the arrow, they will get the ball with the time
remaining on the game clock as well as the shot clock. Team A gains an advantage
if the shot clock is re-set.
This is the NCAA rules interpretation on this play.
2.
Front Court/Back Court from January 8
Teleconference follow-up.
The two plays that were posted clearly stated that
the team that was on offense caught the ball in the front court after they had
caused the ball to go into the back court. Officials should blow the whistle for
a back court violation when the ball is touched or caught by the team that
caused it to go into the back court.
